Write for us

We welcome clear, original pitches about the materials, objects, making, care, rooms and habits of home life. A good proposal helps readers understand a choice or notice something familiar in a new way.

What to pitch

Send a focused idea with a working title, the central point you would make and a short explanation of what readers will take away. Comparisons, background pieces, careful explanations and occasion-specific ideas are all welcome when they fit the publication and do not rely on unsupported claims.

What makes a strong piece

Choose one distinct subject and give it a useful shape. Be specific about materials or situations, distinguish personal preference from general fact, and avoid presenting specialist or safety-dependent work as an easy home project. Originality, readable prose and honest limits matter more than grand promises.

How to send it

Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Select the editorial reason for writing and include your pitch in the message. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless we have agreed otherwise.

Our point of view

A home is made in the details

A useful object need not be new, and a room need not be finished. We look for the small choices that help a home feel considered and lived in.
